About Jonathan Beagley Hi, I’m Jonathan Beagley, and I’m a French translator and interpreter in Melbourne. A native English speaker, I was born in Taiwan to English-speaking parents. After a few years in Taiwan, my family and I moved to the United States where I spent the majority of my childhood. Besides Taiwan and the United States, I have lived in France and now Australia. I am fluent in French and have been studying it for over ten years. I have been interested in languages from a young age and devoured books as a child. I was exposed to a variety of languages early on, and I quickly developed a particular interest in French. I studied French throughout secondary school and eventually went on to study it at Michigan State University. I picked up some Spanish, Portuguese and Occitan—and dictionaries for half a dozen more languages—along the way. I moved to France to teach English before going on to complete a M1 ReLAI Recherches linguistiques et applications informatiques (Grad. Dip. in Linguistics Research and Computational Applications) at Université de Bordeaux III (University of Bordeaux III) in 2013. In 2015, I completed a Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. During this course, I was trained in interpreting in a variety of modes and settings. I am experienced in liaison, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting in healthcare, legal and business settings. Why Choose Me? I am a trained professional who is dedicated to providing translation and interpreting services. In addition to being a NAATI certified translator and interpreter, I am an active member of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators where I am currently the Vic/Tas Branch Chair and Delegate to the AUSIT National Council. I have also served on the AUSIT Ethics & Professional Practice Committee. I am committed to ethical practice and professional development, meaning you can trust me with translating your personal and confidential documents. I am bound to protect my clients’ confidentiality, and I will do my best to meet your translation needs.
